This body of work represents an energetic response to a stimulus.
These multi- media images on canvas and wood panel embody an interaction, or simply an observance of one, in a moment of time. Sometimes moments are overlapped, creating a visual representation of multi-dimensionality. Darcie Lee is inspired by the psycho-geographical experience and collects pieces of places she travels to, scours thrift shops, yard and estate sales for bits of history, family, correspondence and love that speaks to her. She sees these fragments as stories that desire to keep being told. It is the layering of this psychic scaffolding, her own energetic response to the physical pieces she is working with and a moment of serendipity captured or an emotional connection or release that brings each piece to life.

Darcie Lee has been living and working on Martha’s Vineyard for over 15 years now. On top of her art process, she owns and operates a garden design and organic maintenance company that focuses on empowering women through occupational opportunity and horticultural therapy. She believes the way to a more unified future is not only environmental consciousness and connection but instilling confidence, faith, courage and community into women as they are mechanism to nurture all the worlds’ people and restore the mental disfiguration that results from fear driven societies. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in The Business of Art and Design from The Maryland Institute College of Art, (MICA) in Baltimore. She is the mother of a 5 year old son and lives in West Tisbury most of the time. While writing this she is boarding a 62’ Oyster Sailing Vessel and delivering it from Bermuda to Tortola.
