People populate Gwen Norton’s selections. There

is a relaxed feel to her portraits—whether

her subjects are posing or not—which immediately grabs the very sensations of being at the fair. She says, “I approached this assignment as a way to also capture the emotions of the fairgoers.” Her photographs invite us to create the backstory behind what we are seeing. Norton

says, “Rather than just a document, I hope people will look at my photographs and see a

vignette, a story, an episode of life at the fair.”
